Are you  frustrated with mealtime madness?

"She wont eat anything that is green"

"He will only eat chicken nuggets if they are from McDonalds"

"The grocery store is out of his favorite waffles, he is never going to eat breakfast"

Bright Bites is for the parent who’s tried everything—the bribes, the battles, the begging—and still ends up with a full plate and a frustrated child.

Your child is autistic or has sensory processing challenges

Mealtimes feel like meltdowns, not memories

Your child eats fewer than 10 foods—or is starting to refuse even those

No one is helping you figure this out

You want real strategies

Whether your child is nonverbal or highly verbal, selective or struggling with textures, this class will help you turn mealtime into a moment of calm, connection, and confidence.

Hi I'm Eddie, I am 7 fingers old right now. Here's me when I was little.  It took my parents a long time to figure out how to help me do things others take for granted like eating.
Sometimes people wonder why kids like me have a hard time. Well… it’s not because we’re being picky on purpose! Eating can feel really tricky for my brain and body. Some foods have too many feelings in my mouth—like scratchy, slimy, or way too cold.
Sometimes food just looks scary because it’s a new shape or color and that makes me nervous. And guess what? I can’t always tell you what I want, so I might say “no” to food just because I’m overwhelmed or tired. My tummy might feel funny, or I just need a little more time. I like to look, touch, and smell before I’m ready to taste. That’s how I learn!  My parents learned so much about eating and it's helped me to grow tall and strong.

Be patient with us—We are always trying.
One "Bright Bite" at a time.

Presented by Tara & Ed Kelly, Founders of The Learning Star.

The Learning Star was founded by autism advocates and parents Tara & Ed Kelly, whose real-world strategies are road-tested daily by their nonverbal son, Eddie—who doesn’t just have autism,
he rewrites the playbook.
Every tool we share is practical, relatable, and rooted in love—not just theory.
Because when your child won’t eat, speak, or sleep, you don’t need fluff…
you need what works.

"They only eat junk food"

"He only eats for his grandmother"

"I have tried everything, I dread supper time."

"He doesn't get any nutrition, I am worried about his health"

"I work 2 jobs and am so tired of having to cook separate meals for everyone"

"I had to finish everything on my plate before I was allowed to leave the table"

Top 3  Mistakes Parents Make with Autistic Eaters

Even the most dedicated parents can fall into these traps—especially when mealtime feels like a battlefield. But good news: our Bright Bites course shows you exactly how to turn things around.

Forcing or Bribing a Bite- Saying things like “Just try it and you’ll get dessert”

might seem harmless, but for autistic kids, this creates pressure that can actually make them avoid food even more
Try this instead (with Bright Bites):In Bright Bites, you’ll learn how to make food feel safe and inviting—using visuals, routine charts, and small wins to build trust without pressure. When kids feel in control, tasting becomes possible.

2. Going Too Fast -  “Just eat it!”

Skips crucial sensory steps. Autistic kids often need to look, touch, smell, and kiss food before they’re ready to taste it.

Try this instead (Register for Bright Bites):We teach you the “From Peek to Eat” Desensitization Ladder—a step-by-step visual tool that helps your child move at their pace. You’ll learn how to make exploration part of the routine—without overwhelm.

Only Focusing on What They Ate

When success is measured only by clean plates, we miss the powerful moments in between—like sitting at the table, holding a spoon, or touching a new food.
